Dear Fellow Citizens,

I would like to share with you my story about how I came to be involved in politics, what I have done while on the Cecil County Council for the last seven years, and why I am running for re-election.

As a lifelong Republican and conservative, I have always been interested in politics. In 2009, I became very concerned about the direction in which our country was headed, and believed the best way to enact change was right in my own back yard. That year, I co-founded a local civic group called the Cecil County Patriots. Our mission was to encourage civic involvement and education and work towards a fiscally conservative, constitutionally limited government at all levels.

Through this organization, I began to attend local meetings and became more educated regarding issues facing our local government. I volunteered on campaigns for Republicans at the local, state, and federal levels, and became involved in issues related to spending, property rights, and local autonomy.

In 2015 I decided to run for Cecil County Council, and as part of my campaign I promised to continue to stand for the same conservative principles I stood for as a citizen. I was re-elected to the Cecil County in 2020. Over the last seven years, as a local representative, I have kept my campaign promises and have supported infrastructure development and job creation, stood against irresponsible spending, supported tax cuts, and defended property rights. I have worked to increase the accountability of government and have been responsive to citizens’ concerns. I have voted against tax increases under the prior administration and supported tax cuts under the current administration. I recently sponsored legislation to create a Cecil County Veterans Commission to provide resources and develop strategies to better serve our local veterans and their families.

As a middle class working mom of three, I am able to represent the average working citizen. In my own life I know what it means to live within a budget and prioritize spending, and I respect your hard earned dollar. I also understand the importance of preserving the values of Cecil County so my kids have a reason to make the this area their home once they grow up.

Serving as the council representative to the Maryland Association of Counties (MACO) for the last four years has given me a perspective of how state bills effect local government, often negatively through unfunded mandates or eliminating local autonomy. In this role, I have fought for the ability of local governments to maintain local autonomy and opposed mandates that take away the rights of the citizens. I am a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment and support health care freedom and parental rights.
As I continue to serve on County Council, you can be confident knowing you have a conservative, bold voice representing you as well as someone you can reach out to anytime who will be responsive to your concerns.

Because of my proven conservative record, work ethic, commitment, and experience, I respectfully ask for your support in the Republican primary on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

Thank you,

Jackie Gregory
